Trustees Re-elected for The Woodlands at St. Barnabas Inc.
Gibsonia, Pa. - April 10, 2007 - A board of trustees has been re-elected for The Woodlands at St. Barnabas Inc., a growing community of nearly 100 one-level carriage homes in Valencia borough and Adams Township, Butler County. The Woodlands at St. Barnabas is designed for younger retirees who desire a maintenance-free, resort-like lifestyle. The Woodlands is part of the St. Barnabas Communities, which are operated by St. Barnabas Health System for independent retirees.
Serving as trustees of The Woodlands at St. Barnabas Inc. are:
- Winfield S. Smathers of Gibsonia, Chairman/Treasurer. Smathers is an investment adviser and managing director with Hunter Associates, an independent wealth management firm in Pittsburgh. He joined the firm in 1993 to provide investment advisory, brokerage, lending, insurance and financial planning services to individuals, families and businesses. He is a graduate of Dickinson College and holds a degree in Economics. Win serves on the board of several non-profit organizations in Western Pennsylvania and has been involved with St. Barnabas for many years, serving on its Community Advisory Committee and the St. Barnabas Charities Golf Open committee.
- Douglas W. Day of Richland Township, President. Employed by St. Barnabas since 1982, Day has worked his way through the ranks, currently serving as Senior Vice President of St. Barnabas Health System. In that capacity, he oversees the operations, administrative and personnel decisions of the St. Barnabas Communities. He is particularly involved with the St. Barnabas Communities' growth and construction, focusing on The Woodlands. Day holds a bachelor of arts degree from Westminster College and is actively involved in several professional and civic organizations.
- Michael J. Antonelli of Murrysville, Secretary. Antonelli has served as Director of the St. Barnabas Communities since 2002, overseeing extensive expansion and remodeling projects. He also oversees the maintenance, housekeeping, food service and resident relations departments. A licensed Nursing Home Administrator, he previously was associate director of The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods in Sarasota, Fla. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
The Woodlands at St. Barnabas Inc. is part of the St. Barnabas Communities Inc., a series of three residential options for independent retirees. The St. Barnabas Communities also include The Village at St. Barnabas, a group of 252 apartment units connected by an indoor mall, and The Washington Place at St. Barnabas, a 23-unit apartment building for seniors who can live independently with some assistance. The Woodlands at St. Barnabas boasts cathedral ceilings, fireplaces, outdoor decks and patios, ample storage space and two-car garages. Residents of The Woodlands have access to medical care at St. Barnabas Health System's clinical facilities and also enjoy the social amenities provided through the St. Barnabas Communities.
