St. Barnabas to Offer Free Thanksgiving Dinners

GIBSONIA, Pa. (Richland Twp.), Nov. 10, 2005 - Continuing a tradition that began in 1900, free holiday meals will be provided to individuals and families affected by tough financial times, and community members without family. Thanksgiving can still be a joyous occasion thanks to the generosity of St. Barnabas Charities.

St. Barnabas Charities will offer free traditional turkey dinners, complete with all the trimmings, on Thanksgiving day, Thursday, Nov. 24, at the two nursing homes operated by St. Barnabas Health System. Meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the dining room of St. Barnabas Nursing Home, 5827 Meridian Road, Gibsonia. The dinners will also be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the dining room at Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas, 85 Charity Place, Valencia.

Reservations for the free dinners are appreciated but not necessary by calling St. Barnabas Nursing Home at (724) 443-0700, Ext. 380 or Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas at (724) 625-4000, Ext. 228. No questions will be asked of those enjoying the dinners and confidentiality will be honored.

Free Christmas dinners will also be offered on Sunday, Dec. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at both facilities. The free holiday dinners are an example of St. Barnabas' commitment to its charitable mission of providing care to those in need regardless of their ability to pay.
