Kean Theatre Brings Back Oldies Concert Series
"Summer of Fun" to benefit St. Barnabas Free Care Fund
Gibsonia, Pa. - May 6, 2005 - In response to last summer's successful Oldies concert
series, the Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road, is bringing back rock 'n roll. The 2005
season at the Kean marks the third Summer of Fun oldies concert series, featuring six great
bands, some who call Pittsburgh home.
One of those bands is Johnny Angel & The Halos, a hometown band with national stature that
has been playing favorites from the 50s, 60s and 70s to western Pennsylvania audiences for
close to 40 years. "There's nothing better than doing what we love to do, for people who
love us. Once you've been hugged by Pittsburgh there's nothing like it," says Johnny Angel,
lead vocalist for Johnny Angel & The Halos.
A general admission ticket to all six shows is available for a special rate of $146. Or, a general
admission ticket to any three shows can be purchased at a 20 percent discount. Proceeds from ticket
sales benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund. All shows begin at 8 p.m. The box office and
backstage bar open at 7 p.m. Oldies acts that will rock the Kean this summer are:
The Grass Roots - Saturday, June 18
Only nine bands in the history of rock & roll have had more hits than The Grass Roots.
"Midnight Confessions," "Wait a Million Years," "Live for Today," "Temptation Eyes," and
Two divided by Love" are a few of their hits. This band played to 600,000 in Washington, D.C.
and spent 307 straight weeks on Billboard and appeared on American Bandstand a record 16 times.
Featuring original band member and lead vocalist Rob Grill. Tickets are $55.
Jimmy Beaumont & The Skyliners - Saturday, June 25
Revitalizing the sound and stylish look of the doo-wop era, the Skyliners are comprised of
original lead vocalist Jimmy Beaumont, bass and baritone singer Nick Pociask, female lead
vocalist Donna Groom, and second tenor Dick Muse. The Skyliners trace their history back to
1958 in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Their classic songs include "Since I Don't Have You,"
"This I Swear," "Stardust," "When I Fall in Love" and "Comes Love." Tickets are $32.
The Fabulous Hubcaps - Saturday, July 9
For 28 years this Washington, D.C. band has been the premiere oldies band in the country.
Costume changes, skits, impersonations and great music make it a can't-miss show. Among the
acts revisited are Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Platters, The Rolling Stones,
and The Beach Boys. Tickets are $39.
Johnny Angel & The Halos - Saturday, July 30
One of Pittsburgh's top oldies band makes its second appearance at the Kean. Johnny Angel &
The Halos traces its history back more than 30 years and has worked with legends such as
Frankie Valli, Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. Today, the band is comprised
of seven singer/musicians. Tickets are $29.
The Fantasys - Saturday, August 13
Recreating the legendary sounds of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, The Fantasys deliver a night of
non-stop excitement, fun and memorable music. The Fantasys were the lead act for many
legendary performers including The Crystals, and are noted for their lively on-stage presence.
Tickets are $24.
Pure Gold - Saturday, August 27
Five voices in perfect harmony, plus a red-hot rhythm section add up to nothing less than
Pure Gold. Pure Gold draws most of its material from the 50s and 60s. They also serve up
a blend of blues and original material to highlight each member's dynamic vocals and
instrumentation. Tickets are $29.

Since opening in 2002, the Kean Theatre has attracted audiences of all ages and built an excellent reputation for its hassle-free location, top-notch entertainment and elegant environment. The theatre serves a worthwhile charitable cause with proceeds benefiting the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund. In 2004 alone, the Free Care Fund provided more than $5.76 million to patients at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas who could not otherwise afford their care.
The Kean Theatre is operated by St. Barnabas Charities, the fund-raising arm of St. Barnabas Health System.
