10 of 20 Finalists Named in Kean Idol Singing Competition
10 contestants of 20 selected for March 30 championship round
Gibsonia, Pa. - March 12, 2007 - Natalie Schaefer of Gibsonia was selected by the audience as the winner of Vocal Semi-Final One in the 2007 Kean Idol Vocal and Dance Talent Contest held March 10 at the Kean Theatre. Natalie, the daughter of Barb and Dan Schaefer, attends Pine-Richland High School and works at Bakerstown Feed. She sang the Harold Arlen version of "Over the Rainbow."
Natalie and nine other acts were selected from 20 acts by a panel of judges to move on to the championship round. A second semi-finals competition will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 24. Ten acts from each of the semi-finals will move on to championship round at 8 p.m. Friday, March 30. The performers at the semi-finals qualified in preliminary rounds held in February and March. All told, 92 acts have performed in preliminary rounds. Moving on to the championship round are:

Now in its fourth year, the goal of Kean Idol is to raise $20,000 for the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund while providing a fun singing and dancing competition for area residents. The contest is mirrored after the popular TV shows "American Idol" and "Dancing with the Stars." Although there is no entry fee, each contestant is asked to sell 10 tickets. Tickets may be reserved for $10 each by calling 724-444-5521.
