Kean Idol Dance Finalists Selected
Dancers will compete March 10
Gibsonia, Pa. - March 6, 2007 - Rachel Mattioli of Sarver and Karly Schwab of Harmony were named the winners of Dance Rounds 1 and 2, respectively, in the 2007 Kean Idol Vocal and Dance Talent Contest on Sunday, March 4 at the Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road. They each received a trophy and the right to compete in the semi-finals of the Kean Idol competition on Saturday, March 10.
Now in its fourth year, the goal of Kean Idol is to raise $20,000 for the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund while providing a fun singing and dancing competition for area residents. By the end of the contest, nearly 200 contestants will have taken to the Kean Theatre stage. Although there is no entry fee, each contestant is asked to sell 10 tickets. The contest is mirrored after the popular TV shows "American Idol" and "Dancing with the Stars." At the dance preliminary rounds, a panel of judges narrows the large pool of contestants down to eight finalists who will compete again on March 10. The audience then votes on the finalist they want to see named that round's winner.
