Contestants Sought for Kean Idol Amateur Talent Competition

Gibsonia, Pa. - Dec. 21, 2006 - Amateur singers and dancers of all ages are sought to perform in the local version of the popular TV hits "American Idol" and "Dancing with the Stars" coming to the stage of the Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road. St. Barnabas Charities will present the fourth annual Kean Idol during February and March 2007.

Due to popular demand, the 2007 contest is expected to grow by a third, increasing from 170 registered contestants in 2006 to 250 contestants in 2007. The contest is expanding from six rounds of preliminary competition to 10 rounds of preliminary competition. Also, two semi-final rounds have been added.

"The Kean Idol is taking on a life of its own," says Debbie Panei, director of development at St. Barnabas. "This year, there were blogs about the competition and coverage on Armstrong's A Channel really sparked interest throughout the community. When we hosted the final round, it was the largest crowd we had ever seen in the Kean Theatre."

For more information or to register, call (724) 444-5521. There is no fee to enter; contestants will be asked to sell 10 tickets to the performance. Contest details and registration forms are also available online at www.keantheatre.com.
