Gibsonia, Pa. - June 1, 2005 - A Pittsburgh legend returns to the Kean Theatre,
5847 Meridian Road, on Saturday, July 30 for an encore performance. Johnny Angel & The Halos
is just one of six shows scheduled for the Kean Theatre's Summer of Fun oldies concert series.
The box office and backstage bar will open at 7 p.m. and the band will take the stage at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $29, available by calling 724-444-KEAN (5326) or by visiting www.keantheatre.com.
Johnny Angel & The Halos is a hometown band with national stature that has been playing hits
from the '50's and '60s to western Pennsylvania audiences for nearly 40 years. The band
performs throughout the tri-state region and enjoys the intimacy of the Kean. "One of my
favorite gigs is to play the intimate theatres," says Johnny Angel, lead singer who also
plays drums and percussion. "We can interact with the audience - they are seated right up
to the stage. It allows me to zero in on their emotions and give the audience what they want
to hear." The Kean Theatre's intimate 350-seat setting guarantees each audience member the
chance to see the performers up close.
Other performances include The Grass Roots on June 18, Jimmy Beaumont & The Skyliners on
June 25, The Fabulous Hubcaps on July 9, The Fantasys on Aug. 13 and Pure Gold on Aug. 27.
Group rates and multi-ticket discounts are available. The Summer of Fun Oldies Series is made
possible through Grammy sponsors Armstrong and 3WS, Tony sponsors Mars National Bank, North
Pittsburgh Telephone Company and Northern Connection Magazine, Golden Globe sponsors DRS
Architects and Pepsi, and box office sponsor Tom Henry Chevrolet.
The Kean Theatre is open to the public and has built a reputation for its convenient location,
free parking, quality entertainment and elegant setting. The theatre is operated by St.
Barnabas Charities, the fund-raising arm of St. Barnabas Health System. The Health System
also includes St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas, The Arbors at St.
Barnabas, The Village at St. Barnabas, The Woodlands at St. Barnabas, The Washington Place at
St. Barnabas, and St. Barnabas Medical Center. Theatre proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free
Care Fund.
