PERIODONTIST JOINS DENTAL GROUP AT ST. BARNABAS
Gibsonia, Pa. - June 30, 2010 - Keila Gutierrez, D.M.D., has joined The Dental Group at St. Barnabas as its periodontist, which is a dental specialist who treats diseases and conditions of the gums. Dr. Gutierrez's experience includes working as a periodontist in several private practices, working as a researcher, and working as a periodontics instructor. She specializes in laser, esthetic and reconstructive periodontics, dental implantology and advanced case management.
Dr. Gutierrez specializes in the latest procedure for treating gum disease, known as LANAPTM, or Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure. LANAPTM is a minimally invasive method for treating gum disease with no cutting, no stitching, little to no bleeding and minimal post-operative pain. Dr. Gutierrez is one of only a handful of specialists in Western Pennsylvania providing LANAPTM therapy to patients.
Dr. Gutierrez is recognized by the Consumers' Research Council of America as one of America's top dentists for the year 2009 in "Guide to America's Top Dentists." She earned her dental degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry at New Jersey Dental School in Newark and received her certificate in periodontics from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia. She holds a bachelor of science degree in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey and an associate's degree in liberal arts from the Edward Williams College of Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Dr. Gutierrez has worked in private practice offices in the North Hills, Pittsburgh and Bethel Park. She was a clinical assistant professor in periodontics and research at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry. She was also a clinical assistant professor of periodontics at the New Jersey Dental School at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She was periodontics director at Dental Health Associates in Phillipsburg, N.J., and a volunteer researcher at University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, among other clinical and educational positions.
