One of the most recognized voices on radio from the mid 1960s through the early '70s belongs to The Grass Roots' lead vocalist, Rob Grill. Grill has been the lead singer for the California pop-rock band since its inception, now 40 years later, he remains the band's only original member. Grill made the hits "Sooner or Later," "Where Were You When I Needed You," "Let's Live for Today," "Temptation Eyes," and "Midnight Confessions" gold and platinum records. Grill and The Grass Roots continue to play before thousands at more than 100 live performances each year and the band sounds stronger today than it did when they recorded those great hits. The Kean Theatre's intimate setting guarantees each audience member the chance to see these legendary performers up close.

The Grass Roots concert will kick off the Kean Theatre's Summer of Fun Oldies series. Other performances include Jimmy Beaumont & The Skyliners on June 25, The Fabulous Hubcaps on July 9, Johnny Angel and the Halos on July 30, The Fantasys on Aug. 13 and Pure Gold on Aug. 27. Group rates and multi-ticket discounts are available. The Summer of Fun Oldies Series is made possible through Grammy sponsors Armstrong and 3WS, Tony sponsors Mars National Bank, North Pittsburgh Telephone Company and Northern Connection Magazine, Golden Globe sponsors DRS Architects and Pepsi, and box office sponsor Tom Henry Chevrolet.

The Kean Theatre is open to the public and has built a reputation for its convenient location, free parking, quality entertainment and elegant setting. The theatre is operated by St. Barnabas Charities, the fund-raising arm of St. Barnabas Health System. The Health System also includes St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas, The Arbors at St. Barnabas, The Village at St. Barnabas, The Woodlands at St. Barnabas, The Washington Place at St. Barnabas, and St. Barnabas Medical Center. Theatre proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund.
