Founder's Day 2008 Featured Debbie Reynolds
Fund-raising event benefits St. Barnabas Free Care Fund

Gibsonia, Pa. - May 13, 2008 - St. Barnabas Charities' Founder's Day 2008 featured Debbie Reynolds, Hollywood legend. The day-long celebration was held Thursday, April 24 and included a visit by Debbie Reynolds to St. Barnabas Nursing Home, an exclusive fund-raising luncheon at The Washington Place and a fund-raising dinner and silent auction at the Omni William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. The dinner was attended by nearly 400 guests, who bid on dozens of silent auction packages and the event grossed $102,000. The signature sponsor of Founder's Day 2008 was UPMC Health Plan.

Proceeds from Founder's Day 2008 benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund. In 2007 alone, the Free Care Fund provided $5.6 million to patients at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas who could not otherwise afford their care.

As part of the evening's festivities, Reynolds, Hollywood legend, received the Hance Award from St. Barnabas Health System president and CEO William V. Day. The award is presented annually to a person of national renown who has made a significant impact upon the lives of Americans. David Johnson and Peggy Finnegan, co-anchors on WPXI-TV, served as the program's master and mistress of ceremonies. Sarah Marince of Moon Township, Kean Idol finalist, performed the National Anthem.
