Kean Theatre Presents Neil Simon's "Chapter Two"

Gibsonia, Pa. - Jan. 28, 2009 - Neil Simon's comedy "Chapter Two" will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6; Saturday, Feb. 7; and Friday, Feb. 13; Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road. An optional dinner at Atria's Restaurant, all seven locations, will begin seating at 6 p.m. Cost for dinner and a show is $40. New in 2009, the Kean has added a Sunday matinee to the theatrical performances. "Chapter Two" will also be performed on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $38 for brunch and a show or $20 for the matinee only.

"Chapter Two" is a charming, semi-autobiographical comedy by the master: Neil Simon. George (Gregory Caridi of Bloomfield) has lost his wife to cancer and his brother Leo is trying to help him by setting him up. Enter Jennie (Kristen Scannell of Franklin Park), who is just getting through a divorce. The two meet and sparks fly. A Tony Award-winning play, an Academy Award-nominated film and the touching true story of Neil Simon and wife Marsha Mason.

Thomas Madden, the Kean Theatre's Managing and Artistic Director, directs. The cast also includes Casey Bowser and Heidi Nicholls, the husband and wife team from Center Township, Butler County, playing the roles of Leo and Faye.

Casey Bowser, portrays Leo, George's brother, in "Chapter Two." He last appeared at the Kean as Aide Warren in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Bowser also played Leo Clark in "Leading Ladies" at the Butler Little Theatre. He is a graduate of Clarion University and works as an assistant photographer/editor at Armstrong.

Heidi Nicholls plays Faye, Jennies' best friend. A native of Chicago, Heidi is an actress and has appeared on stage at area theatres including her latest role as Chick in "Crimes of the Heart" at the Kean. Nicholls can also be seen in TV commercials for Armstrong Cable and Safe Auto Insurance.

Other plays the Kean will produce during 2009 are:

  • "Steel Magnolias" - April 17, 18, 19, 24 and 25
  • "Twelve Angry Men" - Sept. 18, 19, 20, 25 and 26
  • "It Had to Be You" - Nov. 27, 28, 29, Dec. 4 and 5

Proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which provides more than $5.6 million annually to poor and low-income patients at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas.
