Trustees Re-elected for The Arbors at St. Barnabas


Gibsonia, Pa. - Feb. 8, 2007 - Trustees for The Arbors at St. Barnabas Inc. have been re-elected. The Arbors at St. Barnabas is a 182-bed assisted living facility that operates as a subsidiary corporation of St. Barnabas Health System. The facility has recently undergone extensive remodeling and renovation and now features dozens of elegant mini-apartments that each have separate living rooms and bedrooms, a private bathroom, a kitchenette, and a washer/dryer. The Arbors also offers traditional private or semi-private rooms. Benefits include round-the-clock nursing care, rounds by physicians, on-site rehab therapy, customized meals, and recreational activities.

Trustees are:

  • Robert Pfischner of Richland Township, Chairman. Pfischner is the retired President of the former E.T. Lippert Saw Co. and is chairman of the board of Parkvale Bank. He is a longtime member of St. Barnabas Charities' Community Advisory Committee.
  • Karen Tabacchi of Jefferson Township, President. Tabacchi is Senior Vice President of St. Barnabas Health System and President of St. Barnabas Clinical Services and is responsible for creating the strategic operations, personnel and administrative decisions at St. Barnabas Medical Center, St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas. A registered nurse, she is a graduate of the Nursing School of Allegheny Community College and holds a degree in business administration from LaRoche College. She has been employed by St. Barnabas for 19 years.
  • Karen Russell of Cranberry Township, secretary. Russell is Administrator of Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility, including the admission of new residents. Russell has been employed by St. Barnabas Health System for six years and is a licensed nursing home administrator and certified personal care home administrator. She holds a bachelor's degree in gerontology from Kent State University and a master's in social work from the University of Pittsburgh.
  • Rep. Mike Turzai of Bradford Woods, Treasurer. Turzai has served as State Representative for the 28th Legislative District since 2001. He is Chairman of the House Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Economic Development and services on the Finance Committee, Judiciary Committee and Labor Relations Committee. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and a juris doctorate degree from the Duke University School of Law. Turzai is a member of St. Barnabas' Community Advisory Committee, PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® committee and Pennies for Patients committee.
