The St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K Run/Walk is co-sponsored by TRACO. Now in its 14th year, the 5K is widely regarded as one of the best races in the Pittsburgh area, annually attracting 700 participants to the 3.1-mile, flat and rolling course. Celebrity emcees will be Gordon Loesch of WPXI-TV and Shelley Duffy of KDKA radio. During the race and at the post-race party, the Shelley Duff Band will provide live entertainment. Free food and beverages will be available at the post-race party, and participants will be eligible for drawings of prize giveaways.

Certified by USA Track and Field, runners are timed using a ChampionChip device by The Runner's High Timing Services. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as in 14 age categories and the top three corporate teams. Proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which supports patients at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas who otherwise would not be able to afford their care. In 2004 alone, the Free Care Fund provided more than $5.76 million to patients.
