Partners in Caring is a very special service offered by St. Barnabas Health
System. This unique program provides free, in-home assessments for individuals
or families who need assistance evaluating their own long- or short-term
care needs or the needs of a loved one. Upon request, members of the multidisciplinary
Partners in Caring team will make a home visit to complete a needs assessment
and then make some recommendations about the most appropriate next steps.
For more information about this service, contact the Director
of Home Care, at (724) 444-5502.
Free Training for Caregivers
The Home Care Department offers free training for family members who take care of a loved one in a home setting. Trained healthcare professionals visit the homes of people who require care and meet with them and their caregivers. The professionals provide training to improve the safety and comfort level of both the caregivers and the recipients. During a typical training session, the healthcare professional gives the caregiver advice and demonstrations on how to assist with bathing, lifting, turning and transferring the care recipient. Additionally, caregivers can be taught how to administer medications and injections. The healthcare professional can also instruct caregivers on how to handle emergencies and what resources are available to provide them with support. A physician's referral is not required for a Free Training for Family Caregivers session. To schedule an appointment, call the Director of Home Care, at 724-444-5502.
